Filigree Jewelry: silver pendant with four leaf pattern motif

Inspired by Inca motifs and nature, this four leaf pendant is handcrafted by a young and talented master silversmith from Peru, with a speciality for filigree jewelry.

Made from 925 sterling silver, itself created by hand from several strands of silver, is twisted and turned with great dexterity to create a unique and intricate abstract design with a leaf pattern.

Filigree was introduced to the Americas by the conquering Spaniards, who in turn inherited the technique from the influx of Arabs to Spain during the era of Al-Andalus.

The technique was widespread in the Middle East thanks to new ideas introduced via the Silk Road and became a specialisity amongst the Jewish community, to whom every other community would flock for intricate filigree work.

The cord measures:

The cord is made up of 3 mixed green waxed cords with 925 silver lobster clasp.

The leaf pendant motif measures:

(Metric): 5cm long x 6cm wide 

or

(Imperial): 1.96" long x 2.36" wide.
