Artisan made in Peru by a talented young silversmith and inspired by Inca patterns, these large silver dangle earrings have been handcrafted using the art of filigree into a stunning abstract design from a single wire of 925 silver, in both natural silver and oxidized silver.
Oxidized jewelery has a strong presence with the natural silver contrasting against the oxidised silver, and this is highlighted even more in filigree jewellery with their patterns and texture.
The art of filigree was introduced to the Americas by the conquering Spaniards, who in turn inherited the technique from the influx of Arabs into Spain during the period of Al-Andalus.
The technique was widespread in the Middle East thanks to new ideas introduced via the Silk Road and Jewish communities became expert in the art of filigree.
