Blown glass sphere with tassel: oriental talisman, witchball, suncatcher

These beautiful hand made blown glass ball ornaments are based on our original "Turban" design, but with the addition of a second loop and handmade tassel, adding an Eastern touch. 

This was the last design we incorporated into our Blown Glass Home Decor Collection.

Using traditional techniques, master glass blowers from Egypt carefully create our designs, using old techniques and tools that allow them to create the twisting design running through the balls.

Once cooled, the glass is then hand painted and the colors seared into the glass inside an incredibly hot oven heated to 2,500° C.

Originally used as talismans hung in windows and doors as a way of protecting the home from negative influences, today they are enjoyed as object d´art, blown glass ornamental witch balls, gazing balls and suncatchers that move and catch the ever-changing light and moods of the day and night.

This particular design is very complete with the addition of the tassel.  They can look very eye-catching hung alone or, to add drama, in clusters, as a hand blown glass centerpiece in windows, over doorways, from beams and curtain poles.  This piece in particular feels very complete all on it´s own, bringing life to the phrase "more than the sum of it´s parts".

Decorated with 4 hand crafted glass beads, each measuring:

An additional handmade tassel is hung from the bottom loop.
