Each Anillas shoulder bag is handcrafted by an artisan from Andalusia; using up-cycled cotton remnants from furniture manufacturers, the artisan shreds the textile using the ancient tradition of jarapa.
Jarapa is a technique that was revived in parts of Andalusia and Murcia in Spain in the 16th Century, after the last of the Moors were expelled. After their forced eviction, their silk plantations became desert, but their looms were used again by new inhabitants who, no longer able to use silk, created rugs and curtains from remnant fabrics.
Reassembled on a 200 year old wooden loom, the cotton pieces of these bags are blended into unique formations and then combined with the best quality calfskin leather to create an original bag.
Each handbag is zipped on the outside and has a separate pocket, in a differing woven material, on the inside.
The striped bag is lined in thick cotton.
The bag measures:
(Metric) 39cm long x 37cm high x 10cm deep
or
(Imperial) 15.35" long x 14.56" high x 3.93" deep
Being a handmade product, measurements may vary very slightly.
